Welcome to the BGC Kawarthas Summer Camp programs.

We are proud to offer a diverse, quality, inclusive, safe summer experience! Participants will have access to a variety of programs and learning experience in a facility designed to meet their needs and interests!

We are proud to be the only Accredited HIGH FIVE agency in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Amazing Mites

Ages 4-6 yrs.

Is your child ready to explore a new challenge? Amazing Mites campers will have the opportunity to build new friendships and create incredible memories through participation in an exciting camp filled with activities, games, sports, crafts, outdoor play and spirit days!

Amazing Mites Campers will get to use the Splash Pad Daily and will visit local parks throughout the week.

Super Camp

Ages 7-9 yrs.

Super Campers will participate in a variety of activities including:  Sports, Technology, Arts, Games and Skill Development sessions facilitated by our Staff Team.  Campers will have the opportunity to explore and learn from one another while building friendships.

Super Camp participants will have weekly outings to local parks as well as swimming at the Lindsay Recreation Complex.

Super Camp participants will use the Club’s Splashpad weekly.   Each day your child will come home with a unique- craft, skill and experience.

X-Treme Camp

Ages 10-12 yrs.

Challenge yourself to a new camp experience this year with new programs!  The X-treme Camp will provide opportunities to build new friendships, learn new skills, and experience unique opportunities.

More Details

Campers will take part in outdoor adventure on the Club’s new Low Ropes Course, swimming at the Lindsay Recreation Complex, and also head to local parks and provincial parks throughout the summer.

Our X-treme Camp will have access The Warehouse Youth Centre as their state of the art facility. X-treme Camp will participate in sports, recreation, technology, leadership, and nutrition programs throughout their weekly programming.

Leader In Training (L.I.T.)

Ages: 13-15 years      Cost: $50.00 *Fee only applies to successful candidates accepted into the program.  

 The Leaders-in-Training (LIT) program provides teens with the opportunity to take part in summer camp in a capacity that shapes them into potential leaders. 

The program consists of leadership training, and ‘on the job’ experience in all aspects of summer camp. They will learn what a successful and positive camp leader is and contribute to the day to day camp environment. The LIT program prepares teens to take leadership roles in and out of camp. Successful L.I. T’s will earn volunteer hours and may have the opportunity to apply to work at camp in the future once 16 years of age.  

 Must attend Minimum of 4 Weeks in camp and 4 Training/Teambuilding Sessions all summer.

Soccer Camp

Kicking, passing, take a shot; dribble fast and score a lot! Our Soccer Camp is perfect for players of all skill levels who want to improve their game while having fun. Throughout the week, campers will develop fundamental soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, footwork, and shooting. As well as learn how to work as a team through engaging drills, skill-building activities, and friendly games. In a supportive and energetic environment, campers will build confidence, stay active, and enjoy plenty of time on the field. Soccer Cleats are not mandatory!

Survivor Camp

Grab your buffs; BGC Survivor camp is ready for the ultimate challenge. Throughout the week, campers will compete in a variety of exciting team challenges that test their problem-solving, teamwork, and physical skills. In this camp, participants will be challenged to learn valuable skills. Such as how to build fires, construct structures, learn to fish, purify water, and so much more. Campers will venture over to Fleming College daily and learn firsthand from instructors. It’s a fun, energetic week full of teamwork, friendly competition, and unforgettable camp memories!

Turf n’ Field Sports

July 6 -10 / Ages 7-12 yrs.

Lacrosse, Rugby, Flag football, Ultimate frisbee, and more. Turf N Field sports will introduce campers to a handful of different sports. This camp is perfect for campers who like being active and working as a team. Through fun drills, mini games, and friendly competition, campers will build teamwork, coordination, and game skills in a supportive and fulfilled environment. Campers will have the opportunity to learn from local instructors, as well as take a trip to the Lindsay rugby club. Whether they are learning a sport for the first time or already love the game, this camp is a great way to stay active and have fun on the field!

Performing Arts Camp

July 6 -10 / Ages 7-12 yrs.

Singing, dancing, acting—our Performing Arts Camp has it all! This camp aims to foster a safe and encouraging environment where campers can step out of their comfort zones and embrace being on stage. Throughout the week, campers will work together to create a play that they will perform at the end of the week for parents and families. While we encourage all campers to participate on stage, those who prefer not to perform can also take part as members of the backstage crew, helping with roles such as set design, props, costumes, and stage support to bring the production to life, all roles are important!

Water Sports Camp

July 13 – 17 / Ages 7-12 yrs.

Make a splash at our Water Camp! Campers will spend the week enjoying a variety of exciting water-based activities while building confidence and learning new skills on the water. Throughout the week, campers will have the opportunity to try activities such as sailing, fishing, water polo, underwater hockey, and more. They will also learn important boat safety skills and water awareness in a fun and supportive environment. Whether playing games in the water or learning new aquatic skills, this camp is perfect for campers who love adventure and making waves!

Kid Food Nation helps kids develop food skills through hands-on experiences related to planning, preparing, and cooking.

Little Chef’s Camp

July 13-17 / Ages 7-12 yrs.

Has your camper(s) always wanted to be a chef or baker? Then Little Chefs Cooking Camp is the perfect camp for them!  A delicious, hands-on adventure where kids build confidence in the kitchen while learning healthy habits. Campers will explore balanced eating using the Canadian Food Guide, learn valuable cooking skills like safe knife handling, measuring ingredients, following recipes, and more! The campers will also head out for a grocery store to visit and learn how to navigate aisles, read labels, and make smart food choices on their own. And the best part? They get to cook and bake EVERY day! From smaller snacks, to meals, and sweet treats options; there is bound to be something every camper will enjoy! Campers will get to taste their creations, share with family, and experience just how fun being in the kitchen can be.

Step up, take charge, and have fun at our Leadership Camp! This camp gives campers the chance to develop confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through exciting and varied activities. Throughout the week, campers will participate in challenge-by-choice games, tackle low ropes courses, and put their minds, and teamwork abilities to the test with an escape room challenge. They will also have opportunities to learn practical skills through leadership-designed courses, such as babysitting, and take part in creating, and leading a special event day for younger campers. Campers will leave the week with new skills, friendships, and a boost in confidence to take on any challenge.

If you love being outside, this camp is for you! Our Outdoor Adventure Camp is all about exploring nature and spending as much time outdoors as possible. Campers will visit beautiful provincial parks such as Ken Reid and Emily Park while learning to identify different aspects of the natural world. Each day will focus on a different area of nature, including insects, trees, birds, and fish. Campers will also enjoy hands-on activities like kayaking, canoeing, and fishing, gaining both skills and a deeper appreciation for the great outdoors!

From painting, sketching, photography, and clay sculpture creations, visual arts camp has it all. Campers will have the chance to learn valuable skills that will enhance their art skills, from local art instructors. Campers will develop skills such as pencil shading, stop motion, and painting techniques, and finish the week with a walk-through art gallery of all their creations for parents and family to see!

Campers will spend the week learning and practicing skills on both skateboards and scooters in a safe and supportive environment; right in our own beautiful skate park! Throughout the week, they’ll work on balance, turns, and coordination while gaining confidence on the ramps and courses. Fun challenges, mini competitions, and skill-building games will keep campers engaged and motivated, whether they’re beginners or experienced riders. Hockey Camp

August 31- Sept 4 / Ages 7-12 yrs.

Hit the ice and score big at our Hockey Camp! Campers will enhance essential hockey skills including skating, passing, shooting, and teamwork through drills, skill-building activities, and dry land. This camp is designed for campers who have had previous experience skating and playing hockey. Campers will gain confidence, improve their game, and enjoy plenty of time on the ice. With engaging activities, mini-games, and team challenges, Hockey Camp is the perfect way for young athletes to stay active during the off season, make new friends, and continue improving their hockey skills.

More Details

Campers are required to have Full Hockey Equipment including hockey helmet and a neck guard.

DEFINITION OF LEVELS

Representative Level: If your child has played at a representative (OMHA/OWHA) level previously or you believe they demonstrate the skills to play at this level (crossovers, hockey stop, tight turns, puck control, transitions, skate forward and backward).

Local League Level: If your child has played in their local league and is still developing their core skills (starts, stops, tight turns, cross overs, puck control skating forward and backwards and transitions).

Enhanced Staffing Support

*Important Update*
While BGC Kawarthas strives to be inclusive of all campers, our Inclusion Support program has seen recent funding cuts. 

Enhanced and respite staff are meant to help children with developmental, physical or behavioural needs integrate successfully into Club programs.

At the time of registration please make us aware of any special requirements for medication, mobility, or behaviour, or of other resources your child may need to participate.

The more informed we are the better service we can provide.

 

Fee Subsidy

Contact or visit the Club if you are in need of financial assistance for any of our programs, services, or memberships. You may qualify for a child care subsidy through the City of Kawartha Lakes for Summer Camp programming.
