In May 2025, the YECoP identified areas of need and concern among youth in Kawartha Lakes and started a qualitative study to determine root causes and the best methods to approach these needs and concerns.Â

A. Youth Engagement: Bring the youth voice to the Community of Practice using various methods including frontline engagement and youth advisory work.
B. Teen Wellness Fair: To introduce youth and families to service providers in a fun and engaging way.
C. Info Fairs & School Based Events: To connect students with community-based resources.
D. Social Recreation: To improve awareness of and access to social recreation for youth.
System Navigation & IYS
System Navigation & Integrated Youth Services (IYS)
A. Coordinated Navigation: Support youth-serving organizations to better navigate each agency’s programs and services.
B. Communication Platform: Establish a platform for interagency communication and information sharing.
C. Improve Integrated Services: Assess existing integrated youth services in Kawartha Lakes and determine opportunities for organizations, including Youth Wellness Hub alignment.

A. Basic Needs for Families: Determine existing basic needs resources and gaps for families in our community.
B. Workshops & Caregiver Engagement: Engage families and caregivers in understanding and responding to specific needs and behaviours of youth data to inform change in the community.

A. Data Collection: Collect relevant youth data, both existing data and new data to inform the CoP and larger community.
B. Develop Report for Various Sectors: Develop a formal report with recommendations based on accumulated youth-driven data to inform change in the community.
